5 of 5 Must have October 15, 2024
Reviewer: Hermann Dresen from Manderscheid, Deutschland Germany
The iStarFi WLAN Adapter offers an easy way to connect your ioptron mount to your pc, mobile or tablet. This frees you of the need of one more cable, wich in worst case can wrap around your mount block it's movement.

A WiFi interface is especially useful, if you use your mount for astrophotography and need a continuous correction e.g. by a guider or guiding software. Mobile apps like skysafary offer a great way to control the mount directly via a touch on a star chart.

The iStarFi is simple to use and highly configurable. So it can either play the role of a WLAN-Hotspot or be connected into an existing WLAN as it's used to control a garden observatory by an asiair or remote pc connection. It's lightweight small form factor makes it an easy and useful addition to your mount

3 of 5 Is it really useless? September 11, 2022
Reviewer: Ake Liljenberg from Torslanda, Västra Götaland Sweden
Hi, according to Clifton Hipsher this product is useless for astrophotography since it does mount control only. Isn't mount control it's purpose and what one would like for astrophotography? I'm thinking of buying one to use together with StellarMate OS but I hesitate due to Clifton's review. Anyone here using it with INDI drivers (as in StellarMate or ASIAir)?

1 of 5 Do Not Buy. December 5, 2021

Does mount control ONLY.  Totally useless for astrophotography.

Also, this device frequently drops the WiFi link and if you are using Stellarium like I do, when the WiFi drops, Stellarium hangs.
